Every year, in the middle of August, the top men and women tennis players in the world land in Cincinnati to play the Western & Southern Open. More specifically, the beautiful suburb of Mason, Ohio at the Lindner Family Tennis Center - across Interstate 71 from Kings Island Amusement Park.
It's the oldest tennis tournament in the United States that is still played in its original city, since 1899. But, it's at risk of moving to Charlotte since the tournament's been under new ownership. Each Queen City has investment proposals out, and a decision is likely to be announced after the 2023 tournament is complete.
What makes Cincy Tennis so great?
It's the most affordable Masters 1000 / WTA 1000 event on tour, with the closest viewing options. Cincinnati is is driving distance from many major Midwestern and Southeastern cities.
The other two comparable events of this size and worth in the United States are Indian Wells and Miami. Both beautiful, but international destination cities, making the prices for travel and accommodations that much higher. Indian Wells and Miami have some of the biggest stadiums in tennis, making the crowds much busier and your view of the players much further away.
Don't take our word for it. Support Cincy Tennis before it's too late and find out why #MidwestIsBest.
This could be fans last chance to show their love for Cincy Tennis. So, we've released a new Cincy Tennis collection of gear to sport before, during, and after the tournament. Appropriately featuring a lot of blue, answering the City of Mason's "Blue Out" for the finals request.
